Growing in the digital age: Risks and opportunities

In this book the author addresses parents, educators and teachers, who often find themselves disoriented in the face of new digital technologies. The insights, also technical and practical, on the various topics covered are always accompanied by ideas useful to address the problems that in this context we see rise, especially among the youngest.

The use of new technologies in childhood, school age and adulthood: what future?

The diffusion of digital technologies is unstoppable. Thanks mainly to the smartphone, their pervasiveness comes up to the most common gestures of the everyday life of adults and children. The text examines this phenomenon and the effects that the use of digital instruments has on our health. In particular, by looking at our children, neuroscience can help us to understand the delicate dynamics of a brain in formation and the fundamental distinction of age groups in the three-year period: from 0 to 7 years, from 7 to 14 years and from 14 to 21 years , already indicated by distinguished pedagogists. Without prejudice, the various themes are addressed: the digital literacy of adults and children; New teaching techniques; The digital pathologies, up to the behaviors of dependence and compulsiveness; The virtual world of video games; Social media between friendships and loneliness; The risks of solicit and online pornography; Cyberbullying and stalking; The artificial intelligence and the robots of the future. In this seemingly hostile scenario, it is nevertheless possible to seize a great opportunity for growth in the relationship between US parents-educators and our children.
